Running - Treadmill Speeds Topic


Hello,

Is it possible to include all of the running speeds on the "Running" option? I use a treadmill to run and having all of the speeds on the "Running" option will help with calorie loss calculation.

To be clear, the "Running" option only offers specific speeds. For example, there's 6.0 then the next option is 6.7 then 7.0. My request is to offer all of the possible running speeds (i.e. 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, etc).

That would be amazing. But maybe u can hold ur phone and it will determine how fast u run burning more calories.

Thanks for letting us know you would be interested in all the possible running speeds. I see how this would be helpful to people who are not tracking calories burned with a fitness tracker. We use the Compendium of Physical Activity, a well-regarded resource for calculating calories burned by different activities, Unfortunately, they only provide values for certain increments of running speeds (e.g., 5, 5.2, 6.0, 6.7 mph). I have made not of this request if any updated information becomes available. In the meantime, I'd recommend using the lower number if you are between two running speeds, so as to not over-estimate calories burned.

I know your suggestion was from February but if you are still using the app and running, another suggestion would be to use a heart rate monitor during your runs. That way you are getting an accurate calorie burn number no matter what speed, elevation, or intensity you are running at.
