Recording altered ingredients in food items? Topic

I am on a Whole Food/Plant based diet, even stricter than Vegan. No oils, no dairy, no eggs, no additives, no fried foods, low salt. Most of my food is prepared from scratch, not a brand. Is there any way to record a food but then alter it to show the absence of certain ingredients, for example, “hummus” but without the usual tahini ingredient? Recording the recipe for every meal I prepare is way too time-consuming.

Hi there SalishSea- You might find these articles helpful. They outline using the staples food feature (whole foods from the USDA database) and review how to import a recipe. You are right! It does take some time to enter recipes. Might you consider creating custom recipes for the top 10 foods you eat on a regular basis? With your diet plan, you'll want to pay close attention to micronutrients, to ensure you aren't developing any nutrient gaps.

As for the hummus delima- An easy workaround is to find this easy classic hummus recipe (it is already entered into the app as part of the Premium Recipe collection). https://www.mynetdiary.com/shareRecipe.do?id=25152549
Once you find it (before logging it) tap on the pencil icon. You will be asked if you would like to Copy and Customize the recipe. Select yes. Then tap on the tahini and select "remove." Then this customized recipe will be saved to your "recipes" for future use, without the tahini ingredient.
Have a great day! Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
