Moderate Carb Diet Topic

Hi

I'm new to this so I'm looking for some help. I'm looking for a diet that is balanced but a little higher on the protein. If that makes sense.

So my recommenced macros are 35% Fat (79g), 45% Carbs (227g), 20% Protein (101g). Could some one help me by recommending a strategy for higher protein and lower carbs? But I don't want the carbs real low. I'm not looking to do a low carb diet. I just want a balanced diet but higher in protein and lower in carb.

Thanks

Hello Patster!

Glad you reached out! How about trying a 35% fat, 40% carb, 25% protein ratio of macros. You can always tweak it down a bit to 35% carb but try this and see how it goes for a month! 30% carb is considered a low carb diet. Here are some nice MyNetDiary articles on macros that you might find useful. Calories are really important to keep focused on as well!

How do you grade your foods. I notice you give Bison a D+ which is very odd to me. You also give MCT Oil a bad grade at a D?

Hi there Sklein1-
Welcome to MyNetDiary!
I am guessing you are curious about the MyNetDiary regular Food grade, not the low-carb food grade?

The MyNetDiary regular food grades are not an assignment of food merit per se. It was designed by researchers (using a math formula) to compare like items based only on nutrients currently listed on the food label. The saturated fat content and lack of fiber mean the bison will score lower than an apple. Though the food-grade was never intended to compare these two items. It was developed as a way for users to compare foods within the same food class to find the healthiest option. For example, it might be used to compare breads or cereals when shopping, to find the healthiest bread or healthiest cereal. You can read more about it in this short article: http://www.mynetdiary.com/food-score.html
Hope this helps clarify~ Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
