Diabetes Meter interface Topic

Hi!
This is probably already covered, but I couldn't find it.
I got a new diabetes meter (Contour Next One). It talks to my android phone app. I don't really care about their app, I'd like this thing to talk to yours, as well as my Taylor scale (which, their app doesn't even work for me lol)
How hard would it be to design a bluetooth interface for most common health devices? It would streamline my process a fair bit over time. I am betting a lot of the legwork is already done in some open source project, too.
Thanks for listening!

Hello Shawnhughes1,
MyNetDiary Android app supports integration with other third-party apps via the Android Google Fit App and via Android Samsung Health App. But, unfortunately, the Blood Glucose tracker is not among the trackers available for MyNetDiary - Google Fit syncs. We regret any inconvenience that might have caused.
Thank you for the feedback! I will pass your request to our developers. I cannot guarantee that we implement all proposed ideas; however, rest assured our development team will review your request and count your vote.
Sincerely,
Dmitry S.

Thank you for responding (as always!) Dmitry!
My issue is that Samsung Health seems to overlap both MND and Garmin Connect. Then there is the sub constellation of interface/driver apps (Taylor SmartScale, Strava, Contour), all of these things taking up RAM and computer cycles and sending who knows what data to whereever it goes, plus opens the phone up to whoever can access those apps.
I realize it would be tedious to try and develop an interface, but, if MND could at least poll data directly from the connected devices, most people would leave all of their associated apps off. Perhaps the companies might not like that, but... I honestly don't care about their concerns.
Thanks for listening!

Hello Shawn,
Thank you for your reply,
Some parts of your post are still unclear to me. Could you please clarify what Samsung Health Overlaps means?
Here are more behind the scenes. We have integration with S Health, but on the MyNetdiary Free app only. Direct syncing with S Health does not work with MyNetDiary Diabetes Tracker. We did not implement this functionality on the "D" app since the Samsung company allowed us to implement Link only with one of our two Android apps. So, we had to choose one of our apps to implement this functionality. We decided that this feature will be allowed for use with a "Free" membership. As you can understand, more users prefer to download "Free" apps rather than paid apps; thus, our decision to implement this Link on our "Free" app.
There are some problems with getting data other than Blood Glucose, e.g., exercises. Syncing with Samsung Health App was implemented on the MyNetDiary Free app a few years ago. But, Samsung company still does not allow "reading" the caloric expenditure from the Samsung Health app yet; we can "read" only the steps and weight records from there. We did not have Samsung approval to "read" the workouts data yet. Due to legal reasons, some countries do not allow collecting the user's location data. MyNetDiary needs the locations data to calculate the distance of the walking, running, and bicycling workouts to calculate the burned calories. As we cannot get this location changes data from Samsung, we cannot unlock the already implemented Samsung Health Exercises in MyNetDiary. We realize this isn't very reassuring, but we do not have any timeframe yet.
We hope to add the reading of the BG data from S Health or Google Fit apps in the future. So this ticket is on our to-do list.
In the meantime, if you have an iPhone, you can link the Contour Next One diabetes meter app to the iOS Health app to the MyNetDiary iPhone app. So, we will be able to get your Blood Glucose Readings then.
You've shared your concerns regarding getting the data from the third-party apps and, as we understand, implied possible security issues caused by sharing the data between the apps. The user completely controls the data to share; the synced data goes from the MyNetDiary account to your profile created with a particular company (Taylor SmartScale, Strava, Contour, and so on.) If you do not trust a company, do not create a profile there.
We cannot pull data directly from the different devices (their apps) since creating and maintaining multiple integrations is challenging. Companies often make changes that affect integration, and fixing/adjusting takes a lot of effort for developers. Also, please take into account that not so many people use the particular integration. So, the implementation of many direct integrations is not always economically effective. We always go where people go; thus, using such hubs as Google Fit, S Health, and iOS Health. They provide a universal and stable way for indirect integration with third-party apps.
We take user privacy very seriously. Besides account creation being entirely optional in MyNetDiary, MyNetDiary does not participate in any ad networks and does not display ads (often a privacy intrusion sending back to the ad network information about the user). Moreover, recently, we removed the Facebook and Google tools used to support "Sign In with Facebook" and "Sign In with Google," which may have sent some information back to the motherships.
Of course, we understand your privacy concerns completely. MyNetDiary needs your age, weight, height, gender, and activity level to calculate your energy balance. Also, we use this data to show your specific highlights in your daily and weekly analysis, figure out possible weight loss/gain, and compare it with projected goals. Again, notice that creating the account on the mobile apps is optional. It's not a privacy issue since it does not have access to and does not require any personally identifiable information. As long as you don't create an account with email and don't enter personally identifiable information into MyNetDiary (for example, you don't enter your name and home address somewhere in notes), there is no way to identify you by your data in the backup copy. It's just a bunch of data for some anonymous person. We don't sell or give data to anyone. If you do not like to use some existing integration with other apps, you can keep it in a default state, disabled; we respect your values.
We hope this makes sense. Please let us know if you need further clarification regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Dmitry S.

This is along the lines of the thread but is a much more flexible feature. Import a CSV data file directly into MyNetDiary.
I am on iPhone so I have iOS Health which I do not use. I use MyNetDiary.
I am diabetic and using the libre 2 meter. I can export to a CSV.
To get my data into MyNetDiary, first I sync MyNetDiary with Apple Health.
Next I installed an App Health CSV Importer (apps.apple.com/us/app/health-csv-importer/id1275959806). This lets me export a CSV from my continuous glucose monitor, and import it into iOS Health. which then syncs with MyNetDiary.
The graphes that I get from MyNetDiary for BG are very informative. They are very granular and I can see the value of each data point. They get flagged High by different rules that I setup based on whether they are Fasting or after meals. MyNetDiary knows when I am eating so it know if this is fasting BG or after meal BG. It is great.
This does not help with my Keto Blood readings. The Apple health app does not import or sync Blood Keto readings.
First Feature Request
Functionality similar to 'CSV to Health".
Let your app pick a file in dropbox. If the first row contain column names. Then the app maps the columns. It asks for start time, end time, and looks at column names or data. It guesses what each column maps to in iOS Health. You would map to MyNetDiary Columns.
I do not have an end Time so it lets me skip it.
This way you could let me import my Keto data directly. Any data you accept could by imported.
This would integrate with any apps and devices that can export to CSV.
Also you can improve on Health CSV Import by not entering duplicate data. If the data-point is the same BG at the same time do not import it.
SECOND Feature Request
A SECOND feature that would be very helpful would be the ability to click a data-point in a chart and delete is from the data.
My Libre 2 meter sometime gives fake LOW BG due to compression on the sensor. This is very easy to see in the chart. If I could click a point and pick delete it would be great.
Thanks for your consideration.
