After Easter I decided enough was enough and started making healthier eating choices and restricting calories. The first week was rough but after that my appetite reset and I wasn’t hungry all day.
Then I bought a Ring Fit and started doing 30 minutes of light bodyweight exercises a day. It doesn’t hurt that I have a reasonably active job, but every bit helps. Now I’m looking to be down 20 lbs by the end of the week! It’s hype time now, on to the second leg of this journey! 💪

Thanks! There’s no breaks on this train, especially since I started logging 11 days ago. I eat exactly what I need, no more and no less, and I feel fantastic!

Hi there Jesse- Congrats on your weight loss! It sounds like your hard work and focus are really paying off.
Any tips on staying the course when you have a food craving or don't feel like doing your workouts? I am sure others would love to hear more about how you've been successful. Best, Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Thanks! I think the biggest thing for me was just structure. I set alarms every day for everything. You can only do one thing at a time so instead of getting overwhelmed, just focus on things as they come up.
Breakfast alarm? Eat a decently healthy breakfast. Workout alarm? Just get it done, and you’re one step closer to lunch. Breaking things down into small steps and keeping a rigid routine helped me a ton.
Also, logging is great because I know exactly how many calories I have to play with, and if I know I want to eat something a little bit more dense for dinner, I can pre-log it and then split my remainder between breakfast and lunch, so I have enough flexibility to make good choices.
Oh, and for anybody who is busy like me and can’t cook or prepare fresh food every meal, Smart Ones are the best tasting and cheapest prepared meal, with a good selection and a reasonable amount of nutrients.
Finally, I add tons of spices to everything now. If you can’t get flavor from fat and sugar, try spices! They effectively have 0 caloric content, even when you dump them on, and when I eat food with bold flavors, I tend to get satisfied on less.

Thanks Helen! I’ll try not to brag too much because I know us guys have an easier time of it than the ladies, but it feels really good to finally kick into high gear, and I’m glad my success can help motivate others too. Makes me want to work that much harder to live up to expectations!
