Good morning, I have to ask like others I get notifications that I am on track, however it is very slow process.
Here is my question: I have my auto tracker on and the past few days weight has been moving downward, but the calorie count goes up wouldn’t it go down? I follow a modified Keto help or please explain

Hi Chell65. Although I am not on a Keto diet, I too have similar confusion.I have noticed that with the ‘calorie counting’ diet that I am on, the exact thing- I ask the same question, weight goes down, and calorie budget goes up?? It doesn’t make sense to me. Also, I do exercise and my calorie budget goes up, but that makes sense to me so that I don’t keel over! I’ll be keen to see whether someone can shed some light for us on this. I hope you’re doing well on your diet? 2 weeks in at this end and the weight is coming off!

Hello Chell65 and Carrie2020!
Thanks for your question. Do you by chance have the setting on to "add exercise to calorie budget"? If you do, then it will add calories back into your budget when you exercise. Most people turn that toggle off so they don't have the increased calorie budget. Let me know if that works.

Hi Brenda, thank you. What benefit is there to adding the calories to the budget please? Is this for the purpose of purely maintaining weight? I’ve burned 1000 cals through exercise today , according to the app that receives data from my fit bit, and it’s just been added to my budget- I could now have a field day, but i would be sure to undo the good if i was to now consume 1000 cals , yes?

Also, I had a low fat , protein and fibre rich meal after exercise and found that I was ravenous again after 1 hour. I then had a protein snack. What would you recommend post exercise please? Clearly i didn’t hit the right notes with my meal after exercise today.

Hey Carrie, it allows you to refuel and gives you a bit of bonus calories. You don’t need to eat them back unless you feel particularly hungry and your normal calorie budget has gone. It gives a bit extra. I would suggest not eating them all back as you could be overriding your bodies signals just because there extra calories x
If you’re trying to lose, don’t eat them all (but you can use some of it)
If your trying to bulk/gain, you’ll want to make sure you’re consuming enough calories for what you’ve burned, so potentially would be using the extra calories x
Hope this helps :)

Hi Carrie, it sounds like you are exercising quite a bit and so you may want to add a few of the burned calories back if you are hungry. I would certainly not add the 1000 calories back. Your additional calories burned via exercise will help you lose your weight faster! Be well! Brenda (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

I would say add a protein shake after exercise this will support muscle recovery and growth without adding tonnes of extra calories
