Sounds like we have similar goals! 5 8' & age 38 weighing 187 and want to be down to 165 by Bday. Less than 15 days left and down to 173.8. Trying very hard to remain strict on eating and moving.

A safer rate of weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week.
Rayray, losing 60 lb in 12 weeks is too high of a goal - that requires an average weight loss of 5 lbs/week! A safer goal would be 2 lbs/wk average or 24 lbs lost by Sept 30.
Bhall59052, losing 8.8 lbs in 15 days requires losing 4.4 lbs/wk. That is also a bit steep. As I wrote up above, a safer average rate of weight loss is 1-2 lbs/wk.
Best.

Sixty pounds in twelve weeks...even if you starved yourself, that would be hard to do. I think that when we set unrealistic goals, we get frustrated sooner because we don't meet our goals. If a reasonable goal - one that we can actually accomplish! - is set, the whole process is easier and more rewarding.
Aim for 1-2 pounds a week and plan to keep it up for a while.
The pounds take a while to put on and they take their time coming off.
Don't get discouraged because they come off slowly. They still come off!

If you're trying to do something like that, I would suggest getting a professional to guide you through it. You would need to put your body into ketosis with a high protein, low carb diet for the first month. There will be rapid weight loss but as soon as it plateaus, you need to stop. Otherwise the weight will come back. Then ideally you want to be switching to an organic, plant based diet.
Starving yourself is not going to be nearly as effective as this method.
Also there are growth factors, hormones and T-cells in the meat, eggs and dairy which stimulate fat stores.
I won't try to make people become vegan, but I have to say it is the best thing I have done. I am a 6'1, 155 ultra-endurance triathlete and aim to eat 18000kj/day (4300 calories)
