ARCHIVED Ask A Dietitian 2/21/13 - 2/7/14 Topic

Hi NickyJ - I wrote a blog post about this subject - increased sodium needs with sweating! Here's the link: http://www.mynetdiary.com/tweaking-sodium-intake-with-heavy-sweating.html Let me know what you think!

Hi Folks - hope you all had a good weekend. Be sure to check out our blog on Tuesdays & Thursdays - we have new posts on those days. Glad to see the forum has mostly real questions now and not the automated blog and article posts.

Questions about nutrition & weight that you want answered by a dietitian? This is a good place to post your questions so that I see them!

Unfortunately I think the period of time it was flooded with automated threads kind of killed the forum! Hopefully it comes back!!

Hi Amy, yes for a while that is likely to be true. But I will periodically remind folks that they can ask me questions directly on this thread.

Kathy- I'm still trying to figure this program out. Yes, I have all the help links; I need a help link to show me how to navigate all the help links. Question: I remember once SOMEWHERE reporting on all sorts of good things and bad things I've accomplished. It said however that my BMI fell into the 'obese' category. I can find the weigh-in area that calculates your BMI based on that new weight number you've entered represented by a number, but I can no longer find ANYWHERE the verbiage that say's the information also. Lolol...what I'm trying to ask is: at one time I remember some kind of a report, somewhere, that said. "hey knucklehead, your BMI is 29.9, which places you in the obese category". Now I just see simply 29.9 on such in such date in the reports. Where'd it sneak off to?

Hi JBurnett, if you use the web program, click PLAN tab and at the top there are links you can click to see more info, including BMI.

It would be nice if that info on BMI was also on the MY PLAN screen in apps - I will ask Support about considering adding that.

Let me know if you more help on this.

Hi everyone - please feel free to post me questions! This thread is the one dedicated to questions for me, but I also check other threads too, especially as forum changes while Support shifts things around.

How can I make it appear in the food diary that I want to food I am searching name to appear which is often more detailed then what I type in. For example I may put meal replacement but I want the more detailed name of the product I choose to appear in the food consumed column.

Thanks,
Veronica

Hi Veronica, the full food item name will always print on the reports, but it is nice to have a more complete name in the log too, I agree.

So here's the tip: the very first time you search a food, use the first 3 characters of the word, and use multiple words used in the name. If you select a food, then the nickname that gets saved as a "favorite" is the text string you first used to find the food.

You can "retrain" MyNetDiary to use a more complete food item name by using this search technique and instead of using the bold favorite you have already chosen, choose the original food item somewhere below that so that the system "relearns" how you want that food to be displayed.
