Hi I have a question....I began my net diary a little over 2 weeks ago. My goal is tolose 37 lbs by July 24. Net diary calculated my total intake calories around 987. I have been walking on average 3 days a week and I e skating 3 days per week. Walking at a brisk clip 4.5 mph and ice skating on average 6 mph... Both are 1-2 hours of exercise a day. So in burning a fair amount of calories, sometimes what my daily allowance is. So my question is, since the calories im burning are so great, and many times zero out the ones I should be eating, does that effectively increase the calories I can consume overall on a daily basis? I.E. Daily exercise burn =850 + 987 net diary allowed calorie intake for a total of 1837 calories...does that mean I should consume that total amount of calories daily? I'm thinking that's right or my deficit will be unhealthy or so I have this wrong?

I just tried to turn off user contributed foods in the account settings and do not see that as an option. I clicked on account on the far right - is it under the personal tab or somewhere else? Thanks

Really confused! Trying to lose around 2.5kg to get to my goal weight. I've been researching the net (too much) and am totally confused about my calorie intake. I've been consuming approx 1000 calories per day (only coz I have increase over the past couple of days) and doing TurboFire workouts/walking everyday (approx 380 cals burnt per day). I keep reading that you shouldn't go below BMR etc but I just can eat all the cals that are 'recommended'. Some websites say 1300 some say 1900 cals. Also confused about protein/carb/fat ratios for weight loss/toning up. I'm really needing some clarification on what I should be doing. I don't want to harm my body when I'm trying to improve it. Should also note that I am vegetarian, 164cm and current weight is 55.5kg. Hope to get some help soon:)

Hi NickyJ - do not log cooking, laundry, etc. since all activity levels already cover those activities of daily living. If you log those activities, you will be overestimating your total calories burned.

Hi Carlene, MyNetDiary allows a target calories to be calculated for up to a 2 lb/week loss. If you don't enter an Exercise Plan (My Plan in apps or Plan tab in web program), then the target calories can get pretty low- lower than I would recommend. If you enter an Exercise Plan, then the target calories will increase by the avg. dailiy expected calories burned from exercise.
When you log actual activities performed and food eaten, the true net calories is displayed in the Analysis section.

Account tab
scroll to very bottom of screen
uncheck box "Contributed Foods"
save
In apps:
Main Screen
Settings
Scroll down about midway
Find Contributed - toggle off
Save (upper right hand corner)

Hi Laurenm1980 - your BMI is only 20.6 which is already in the healthy zone. My guess is that you are losing for sport/performance? I would be careful not to go too low in calories. If you are active then enter an Exercise Plan as I described above so that the expected calories burned can be added to the target calories. Go for a more gradual weight loss - especially since you are already at a healthy weight. I would aim for 1/2 - 1 lb/wk weight los max.
If you decide to enter an Exercise Plan, then use sedentary activity level so you don't count exercise twice for target calories.

As a general rule, I recommend that folks don't go lower than their BMR (you can see yours in Plan tab on web or in My Plan in apps). However, medical weight loss programs often have folks go lower than that and MyNetDiary accommodates lower target goals up to rate of weight loss of 2 lb/wk.

Hi Kathy,
I cannot possibly figure out how I can eat my daily recommended intake of iron. Please help! The Australian guidelines for someone my age is 18mg. How is this possible in 1 day, everyday?
