Highly Obese - how to start? Topic

I just started using this app last week to track all my calories and intake. I’m a big gamer so seeing green percentage bars is a great motivator for me that translates well.
My question is, because my body weight is so high the app suggests 240g of protein a day which sounds nuts to me. As well as eating 2,300 calories a day.
Is this what I should be doing or are there variables or lesser known factors I should be taking into account?

Aim for 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight

Hi there FattyTrynaThin-
Welcome to the app! If you are following the standard MyNetDiary plan, then the default goal for protein is 20% of your calories. I am not able to see your profile or settings, though if your calorie budget is 2,300/day for weight loss then 20% of this would translate to a total goal of 115g of protein/day. If you are following the "high protein" plan then your protein goal would be higher (1.2-2.0g/kg body weight of protein).
To answer your question, yes 240 grams of protein seemed high for a calorie budget of 2,300 calories/day. Here's some additional information regarding the equations used by the app.
