Hi, I ate roughly 150 calories over my plan yesterday of calories per day but I was still in calorie deficit. I’m upset that this will derail my progress. Thoughts?

Just get back on it. Dont think about it and stay focused make sure your eating enough protein to fill you up so you dont need to go over x

One day is not going to change all of the work from the rest of the time. I weighted myself yesterday (I only do it monthly) and was shocked I had lost a significant amount of weight in that month because there were quite a few days I went over my calorie limit. Just goes to show the overall effort matters more.

Hi there U1189892999-
Strong work on your commitment to track! It takes a lot of effort and energy to track your food and activity and you are doing it!
I could not agree more with what's already been shared:)
When it comes to losing weight and changing habits, it's all about progress, not perfection!

I find that I start off strong at first then if one thing goes wrong I completely fall off the wagon. I truly want to be accountable and not use one bad meal or day as a reason to keep making bad choices.

AndreaE58 - one bad meal, day or snack is not going to derail all of your effort. You have to look at the overall picture & not let those things set you back. Nobody is perfect & we all have bad days & make bad choices. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Hi there AndreaE58-
I completely agree with the tip shared by CanadaAnne! Try looking at the big picture as opposed to choices made during one meal or snack. I realize this is easier said than done. Some people find if they strive to make healthy and reasonable choices 80% of the time, then 20% of the time they will cut themselves some slack and enjoy treats. By adopting this 80/20 thinking they find they can stay on track, lose weight, and feel good about their food choices and the sustainability of their eating plan.
Have you read any work by Karen Koenig, LCSW? I think she does a fabulous job of addressing "all-or-nothing thinking." Hang in there~ Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)
